This day the magical 25th Lustrum will be opened with a reception were everybody can show their joy and enthusiasm for the upcoming week.

During the Lustrum week The 78th yearbook will present their Yearbook. In the evening the MV will organize a very special dinner were they can be congratulated with their effort.


Tuesday 21 November 2017

A large international symposium is held with the theme Energy transition, the world with a growing natural resource demand. Speakers will come from all over the world, to talk about change and the growing demand in the energy sector.

The Applied Earth Sciences study programme has a lot to do with the energy sector. Especially with Earth's growing population and the evolving world, energy demand is increasing. Will current sources satisfy this evergrowing demand? Are there any developments in this domain, and is there room to innovate? Can green energy such as solar, wind and geothermal cover the growth in energy demand? These are all questions that are discussed during the symposium.

At the symposium there will be various topics relating the energy sector. These are geopolitical issues, demand for resources, demand for energy and sustainability of the Earth. During the AES programme students are taught to find creative solutions to complex problems. The purpose of the symposium is to activate students and alumni alike to think about the discussed challenges from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Extended Noordenevening

The extended Noordenevening speaks for itself, There will be music and a lot of decorations at het Noorden, There are just around 100 tickets available for this event so the first 100 people who will buy the passe-partout will have access to het Noorden on the Wednesday during the Lustrum celebration. This event is only for MV-members.

There will be several excursions available for student members to attend. This day everybody is free from lectures. So when the opportunity comes, sign up at the mv-room. After signing up it is important to attend the excursions you will sign up for.


Thursday 23 November 2017

At this event students, professors and Faculty employees will battle for the famous Velzeboerbeker. Named after professor Velzeboer. It will be an activity free to attend with ofcourse a lot of "cultural pleasure" expressed in a golden colour.

In the Lustrum week the VNC will organize an Open Party. This party is open for everyone so bring your family, friends, sport team members, housemates, and everybody else to have a drink and dance until the sun comes up.

Alumni dinner

The Alumni dinner is a dinner at which former members of the study association Applied Earth Sciences, people from the raw material extraction and processing, petroleum sector, reservoir geology, offshore engineering, geophysics and geo-engineering come together with other Alumni’s of the association to dine and wine.

The Lustrum week will end with one of our largest events: The Lustrum Gala. During this event there is a fine mix between students, alumni and their dates. The purpose of this evening is to revise the Lustrum with an evening that no one will forget and one looks back on an exciting and successful week. So bring your date to a wonderful location and experience the most exciting evening of your life!
